ThingPulse AMo integrates the world class Sensirion SCD4x CO2 sensor into the ThingPulse Icon64 WiFi LED display. Two Swiss products made for each other.

CO2 monitor – AMo what?

As you might have guessed “AMo” is a play on words.

For one, it is an abbreviation for Air Monitor. On the other hand, in some latin-based languages it is used as a short form or alteration for “amor(e)” (love) in expressions such as “Te amo!” (I love you).

That is to say that we love our AMo CO2 monitor – and so do for example the teachers and students whose classroom features one.

P.S. Yes, we know, in Italian “amo” also means fish hook. And it’s the name of a Nigerian language. And possibly a number of other things πŸ™‚

More than plastic

The AMo sits on a wooden socket and it is held in place by two magnets on the back. The socket looks like a small bench for the AMo. It is hand-crafted out of Swiss larch and treated with natural oil.

SCD4x CO2 sensor explained

The Sensirion SCD4x CO2 sensor built into the AMo is one of a kind. It is a next generation miniature CO2 sensor that offers an unmatched price-to-performance ratio. It operates on the NDIR principle (nondispersive infrared) that is the foundation of many types of high-performance gas sensors. The photoacoustic sensing principle – depicted below – allows for the extreme miniaturization unique to the SDC4x. For an in-depth explanation please refer to the manufacturer data sheet.

Most importantly, AMo customers directly profit from a number of key features the SCD4x has which other NDIR CO2 sensors lack. Note that non-NDIR sensors are not even considered as their main selling point these days is usually the price.
