Replacement Instructions

Tools required: soldering iron with a thin tip, some solder, sponge, a blade and Philips screw driver

Open the car with the screw driver. Remove only the one screw close to the optical sensor.

Lift the car body from the chassis. Put the screw aside to a safe place. Blow off the dust inside the car.

Use a thin blade to carefully lift the green PCB over the black latches

Carefully flip the PCB over. Be careful to not damage the four red and black wires!
Then heat the solder blob where the battery is connected to the PCB. Make sure that the wires touch neither each other nor other components on the PCB.

Now solder the new battery to the PCB: the red wire is connected to the pad with the “+” sign, the black wire to the pad with the “-” sign. You will notice the new battery is slightly thicker, but it fits nicely

Carefully put the battery back in place and flip the PCB to close the chassis. Test the proper connection of the battery by pressing the grey button underneath the car. The green LED in the center of the PCB should light up. Put the body back in place and fasten the screw

I used these batteries for several of my Anki Overdrive cars. I ordered the batteries because cars would run only a couple of laps before they needed to be put back into the charging dock. The battery replacement was easy enough, just be careful when soldering the wires. Now, after the replacement, the cars seem to run even longer from a battery charge!

These batteries are great bang for the buck!
I can confirm that the cars now last much longer. If you feel confident with the soldering iron then you should definitely swap the stock batteries with the ones from ThingPulse. Just be careful when soldering as to not touch any wires or sensors with the iron!

I ordered 8 batteries for my Anki Overdrive cars. 7 of them worked and 1 didn’t. When I asked ThingPulse about the 1 bad battery, they promptly sent me TWO replacements free of charge. The cars are all working great. Thank you.
